Happy New Year!

To help you get ready for the new year, I have included my latest activity in this post!

Each snowman can be cut out individually or just cut on the rectangle box to separate them. Then cut the head, middle and bottom apart. These can also be cut apart as self-checking pieces so each one is different or just as a straight horizontal line.

I have a huge variety of winter activities in my TpT store, just right for this time of year!

Another new one is
This is a fun creative winter snowman graphing activity using a cube template to make dice with snowmen.

Looking forward to sharing the coming new year with you!

Winter Ideas and Activities!

I'm getting the jump on winter with some activities to share!

Children love this activity and like to do it over and over again!

The Mr. Snowman story is read or sung to the tune of "Happy Birthday". This fun, educational activity is good practice using color and position words. Parts of the body and clothing items are also reviewed.

Once created by you, this 15-page book contains a different verse on each page. Additionally, it includes all the pieces for a 2-foot snowman, plus a worksheet for a child's drawing activity.

The snowman can be used as is, on a flat horizontal surface. It can also be used upright with tape, Velcro, or magnets on the back of each piece, depending on the surface you wish to attach it.
It can be used with the whole class, small group, or in a center.

I also used the snowman pieces as patterns to trace on flannel to create a flannel board Mr. Snowman.
It is especially fun for children that do not get any snow during the winter!

A different twist on snowflakes and 2D shapes together. Discuss the design of snowflakes and the 6 points.

Introduce or review the five shapes, circle, square, triangle, rectangle, hexagon. Excellent practice for fine motor skills, cutting, and gluing.

There are 3 complete activities; 1 in blue shades, 1 in gray shades, and the last is black and white. Possible Sample Keys are included and are in blue shades.

I have many other geometric activities and money saving bundles in my store under the category Geometric Fun.

Winter Snowman Roll and Graph Using Cube Kleenex Box or Dice Template!

Horizontal and vertical graphing can sometimes be very confusing for little learners, so I have created an updated version of this winter snowman product to include large and small pieces for a better visual understanding of the concept. Learning to do graphing should be a fun unforgettable activity!
This is a creative winter snowman horizontal and vertical graphing activity using a Kleenex Tissue box or a cube template to make dice for graphing snowmen. It is a favorite with children!

The product has pieces to do a large floor size graphing activity and a regular sized activity! It works best to print the activity out first, to help you decide, what size you want to make the large graphing grid. (Large graphing grid not included.)
For the large activity, you will need to create your own large graphing grid, preferably one that can be reused again and again! It can be any size you wish! Plus you will need colored paper to fill the grid squares, unless coloring them in with a onetime use.
You can use any size large piece of paper, heavy vinyl picnic table cover or plastic like a shower curtain and create a large visual floor graph to use with the pieces.
You can also create a large graphing grid on a chalkboard, whiteboard or paper, then carefully taping the pieces on, creating a large wall hands on activity.
There is a page to make your own dice using the snowmen dice template, which is tricky for many children! An easier version is to create a large dice using the six larger snowmen and a square Kleenex box (Not included.) or cut the small snowmen and glue them to small wooden cubes to create dice.
Just add the snowmen and colored pieces of paper to fill in the boxes as each man progresses in the graph. They can be taped on, but I like to use binder clips to have the snowmen standing up!
Decide which activity you are going to do and if using the color or the grayshade activity. This activity includes 2 different dice pages, 4 different graph pages with two types of graphs, large and small movable snowmen pieces and the ending question sheet.
There are two different versions of the horizontal and vertical included graphs; one in each has more boxes to color in when doing the activity with older children.
It is important to notice that the snowmen look very similar, so the children need to look very carefully before coloring the box. The children roll their dice and color in the correct box on the graph showing the same snowman.
This is a wonderful way to have hands on learning activity, especially for little learners being introduced to graphing.

The snowman pictures can be cut apart and put in blinder clips to move with the activity. Children love picking out their favorite snowman to race and quietly cheering them to the finish.
See which snowman is the winner!
You may want to start by introducing the large graphing activity using only two or three snowmen and gradually add all six. The included paper grids can be trimmed so that only a 2 or 3 grid is used!

This product makes a good visual discrimination practice and evaluation activity, as well as graphing. This activity can be used with individual students, small groups, the whole class and also in a center or pocket chart.
Another activity that can be played by printing out extra snowmen is Concentration.
I also have a similar product called

I would love for you to Follow to keep updated on new activities, freebies, linkups and so much more!

Winter Scarf Projects

This is a favorite keepsake project for big and little people!

It makes a great Christmas present and while Christmas is passed, now is the time to find the material on sale for next year!
I traced my father's hands for a soft warm scarf that feels like a big hug. I truly wish I had done one with my mother's hands before she passed away....
It only requires paper and pencil for tracing hands, pins for holding the pattern in place on the material, sharp scissors and fabric.
I like to work with fleece fabric. It comes in so many wonderful colors and patterns. There is no sewing involved, just cut and use.
Another version of this scarf is the hands traced with the thumbs making a heart in the middle!
Then pin the pattern to the fabric and cut on the lines. The fingers act as fringe.
Then do the same on the other side.
This project would also be great for students to give to their parents. Depending on the age of the children, the pattern may need to be cut by an adult.

This is when I like to ask high school students to be involved in the classroom after their school day is done for tracing hands and cutting them out. Grandmas like to come in to be classroom helpers. Mothers and fathers like to be involved too, but if the gift was for them, it won't be a secret.

It makes a one of a kind loving gift for someone special!!

One of a Kind Snowflakes and Snow Globes

The weather outside is frightful or delightful, depending on how you see it! If you have snow or no snow here are two fun activities for making memorable snowflakes and snow globes.

You will need to decide which project to do and the type of paper to run it on. They can be made as a stand alone, but that is better printed on heavy paper. It can also be made by gluing the pieces down on another piece of paper.

Decide if posting the picture of the finished Keys, so the children may use them for reference. They could also design a snowflake that isn't shown on a Key. It is a good idea to give each child a baggie to hold their cut pieces until they have used them all.
I have another delightful creative arts and writing activity.
This fun activity includes the cover sheet, 5 snowflake templates to use and parent letter.

Print the snowflake template on heavy paper and send it home with the parent explanation letter.
Parent and child will decorate the flake together. When finished the student will bring it back to school to share. It then becomes a prompt for story writing and telling.

It does not have to be sent home and can be done in class,
but a lot of "stuff" is needed for decorating!
It is always fun to see the different methods of snowing and makes an incredible display!
I have another activity that is kind of along the same idea!
Parent and child will decorate it together. When finished the student will bring it back to school to share. It then becomes a prompt for story writing and telling.

It is always fun to see the different methods of decorating, especially if you use the child's picture in the activity!

To add extra dimension cover the globe with a clear plastic lunch or dinner plate for a
truly 3D look!
The product can be used with the above snow globe!
Snow Globe Picture and Writing Activity for Christmas or Winter
This cute activity can be used for winter and makes a delightful wall or bulletin board display.

The children can draw themselves in the snow globe or give them their picture to dress in snow clothes. I have covered the pictures with a clear plastic plate or bowl to give the look of the glass globe, not included. Add glitter or splatter paint to give the look snow falling.

There are two pictures of just the globe, no lines, one is in color and the other is gray shades for illustrating a picture. Three different line grids globes are available each in color and gray shades for a variety of writing levels.
I have many other winter educational activities and products to enjoy!

Happy snow days for many of you!

Winter Geometric Snowman 2D Shapes

This is a wonderful beginning geometric shapes activity for little learners
using a snowman face!

It includes the shapes circle, square, triangle, rectangle and hexagon.
There are three different activities using colored, grayscale or black and white lines for the children to color. Print off the project you prefer to do.
Children cut out the pieces. It is a good idea to have a baggie to store the pieces in until the project is finished. Then the pieces are glued down on another piece of paper making the snowman correctly.

Adding wiggly eyes is always fun!
Another option is to not have the pieces glued down and they just be reused over and over to make the snowman like a puzzle.

I have many activities for the winter season using different education concepts.

So even if you don't get real snow flurries in your location you can still enjoy some winter!
Enjoy!

A Cute Winter Activity!

Free Winter Bookmarks for your readers or print some for yourself!

One of my favorite activities for winter now in my store is called

I also used the snowman pieces as patterns to trace on flannel to create a flannel board Mr. Snowman.
Children so enjoy the singing and reading of this story, plus creating Mr. Snowman with all his pieces and parts. The littlest learners love to have the story read or sung to them while they make Mr. Snowman!

So even if you have snow or don't have snow, now your children can make a man with a very big heart!
